Ryan Ledson Looking To Make Good First Impression

29 June 2018

Ryan Ledson is hoping to make a good first impression as pre-season training gets underway at Springfields.

Ledson was the first signing made by PNE this summer and he is looking forward to getting to know his new team-mates and gearing up for the 2018/19 campaign.

Speaking to PNE.Com, he said: “It’s a lovely day. I think I’ve met all the lads and they seem a great bunch of lads, I’m looking forward to getting onto the training field now.

“It’s a first day and you’ve got to make a good first impression. I think with pre-season, no one likes it as a player, but you have just got to get through the first couple of weeks. Then you get fit and the season starts and everyone is looking forward to that.”

The young midfielder is beginning to set his targets for the new season, firstly getting into the team but as a collective the goal is improving on a great term last time out.

“The main objective is to do better than last year. I wasn’t here last year, but coming from what I’ve heard it was a very good season last season. Hopefully we can improve and go one better.

“It’s got to be for me to get into the team. As I’ve said throughout my career, it’s just play as many games as I can, that’s the main thing. You’re a football player, you’re here to play as many games as you can so for me, that’s what I’ll be looking to do.”

Stepping up from League One with Oxford, where he won the player of the year and young player of the year awards at the U’s, Ledson is confident he’ll adapt to the higher level.

“I spoke to the manager and he likes developing young players and that was a big thing for me. Obviously, as well, being up north, being closer to home, I’m sure I’ll feel better up here.

“From League One to the Championship will be tough, but I’m sure after a few games I’ll get used to it and I’ll be fine.”
