Ben Davies Signs New Deal Until 2021

22 March 2018

Preston North End central defender Ben Davies has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal until at least the summer of 2021.

The Lilywhites’ No.20 who has been at the club since the age of 11, put pen to paper on an extended stay at Deepdale in a season he has developed into a regular first team player.

Following a series of loan spells, including last season’s successful spell at Fleetwood Town, the Barrow-born defender returned to the club last summer and has flourished under manager Alex Neil, going on to start in close to 30 Championship games already this season.

The 22-year-old still had two years to run on his current deal, but after a break out year, has agreed new terms and said that he had no hesitation in extending his time in PR1 to more than 11 years.

“I only just recently signed a new contract and to have the club come back and reward me again for my performances this season, I am over the moon.” said Ben after signing the contract.

“I have been here a while now and I know the club inside out. It has been a bit of a slog getting through all the years and all the loans, but now I am really happy to be here and to be staying.”

Manager Alex Neil was delighted that the centre half had committed his long-term future to the club, adding: “It's reward for all of the effort and the quality that he's shown this year, he's broken in to the team and he's been a key performer for us. So it's a reward for him and it's also us looking forward and planning for the future and Ben wants to be a part of that which is great news."
