“The Motivation Is Still Sky High” Says Louis Moult

30 March 2018

Today’s goalscorer, Louis Moult was quick to dismiss this afternoon’s defeat in his post-match interview with iFollowPNE, and focused more on Monday’s upcoming game against fellow Play-Off hopefuls Derby County at Deepdale.

Louis touched briefly on this afternoon’s defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, stating: “I thought first half we were brilliant and we were unlucky not to be two up - but they’ve come out second half and shocked us more than anything. They’ve changed the formation and gone two up and I don’t think the scoreline reflects the performance from the boys.

“It’s a blessing in disguise that we’ve got a game on Monday. We can go again - and this bunch doesn’t need much motivation. The motivation in the squad is sky high, we just need to pick ourselves up and go into the next game with confidence and belief.

“Yes it hurts and the changing room will be very down after the game and will be on the coach, but when we wake up tomorrow morning, it’s a fresh day and we’ve got a game on Monday and we need to go into that game with confidence and belief. There’s seven games to go and we need to go into those games thinking we can achieve something.

"We’re looking forward to Monday and it’s up to us now to show everyone what we’re capable of.

“If we do get a result on Monday, teams around us may get a little bit nervous so it’s important that we go out there, stamp our mark on the game and get a result.”

By his own admission, Louis time at North End has been stop start since making the move to the club in January, but after managing his first goal for PNE this afternoon - a welcome milestone for any striker - Louis is feeling confident that he can finally get his North End career up and running up to the standards he showed north of the border.

“After I’ve scored I thought we were going to score again," he continued. "We were on the front foot and they were panicking a little bit - but they’ve gone up the other end and scored those goals."

“My first goal’s come a bit later than expected but I’m delighted to get off the mark - it’s been a frustrating start for me through injury and through fitness but hopefully I can get on the pitch more and get some more goals."
