Maguire Wins FA Ireland Award

19 March 2018

Striker Sean Maguire has been named the SSE Airtricity League Player of the Year.

Maguire was named as the winner at the FAI Awards on Sunday evening, after finishing as top goalscorer in the league last season before his move to PNE in the summer, helping Cork City to the league title.

The Irishman will now join up with Martin O'Neil's squad ahead of Friday night's friendly against Turkey.

Maguire will be hoping to get some minutes in that game after making his senior debut back in October. The 23-year-old missed out on the last squad due to injury, but he has been in fine form since his return earlier this month, scoring five goals in four games for North End.

The forward is joined on international duty with the Ireland squad by PNE teammates Alan Browne and Daryl Horgan.
