Fisher: "I'm Really Happy To Be Here"

22 May 2018

Fresh from signing a new three-year deal, Darnell Fisher spoke of his delight at extending his time at the club after an impressive debut season at Deepdale.

The right back joined from Rotherham United last summer and has been rewarded with a new three-year contract after 34 appearances during the 2017/18 campaign.

Speaking of his new deal, Fisher said: "I'm delighted to sign a new contract, it's a good club with a good bunch of people and I'm really happy to be here.

"Signing from Rotherham, I didn't expect to play as much as I did but the manager said if you train well you will play.

"Obviously he kept his word and I managed to be in the team more than I expected and I played a big part in the season.

"My teammates have helped me out a lot and bailed me out at times and the manager has stuck by me through the good and bad times and I can't thank them enough and I'm delighted to sign the contract.

"It speaks volumes really that I still had two years left on my contract and then speaking to the club and them wanting to get it done so quick. It just makes me feel so welcome and you want to be a part of that and I'm thankful that the club want me."

On his hopes for the new season, the 24-year-old continued: "I think the manager is key to our success, we came up short last season but he will push us again and we will give it a good go, get some players in and make a really good go of it.

"We are quite a young team but I think there is quite a bit of experience within our youth but we can only get better and more mature with that going in to next season.

"It is good to keep us together as a group and the more we play together the better we are going to get, it's looking good for next season."
