Four North End players could be representing their respective countries this week with Republic of Ireland and Wales both in action.

Republic of Ireland face France on Monday evening in an 8pm kick-off at Stade de France before they play host to USA at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday evening.

Alan Browne, Greg Cunningham and Daryl Horgan could all feature for Martin O'Neill's side after being named in the final squad for the two fixtures.

Sean Maguire misses both games due to a minor hamstring strain while Callum Robinson is unavailable as he awaits international clearance after declaring for Ireland earlier this year.

France will host Ireland as part of their preparations for this summer's World Cup and speaking ahead of the game, manager Martin O'Neill spoke of the opportunity ahead for his players.

"It will be a big test for us. France have as good a chance as anyone of winning the World Cup," O'Neill told the media ahead of the game.

"For us it is great preparation for the Nations League and a big opportunity for some of our less experienced players."

"This is as big a game as some of our players will have played in. It will be a huge test and I'm hoping to learn a lot from it."

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Chris Maxwell is away with the Wales squad in Los Angeles ahead of their friendly against Mexico on Tuesday.

Maxwell is yet to make an appearance for the senior side but will gain invaluable experience while away with Ryan Giggs' squad as he seeks his first cap.

Billy Bodin was withdrawn from the squad with a minor injury after making his senior debut for Wales against Uruguay during the last international break in March.

Wales take on Mexico at 2am (BST) on Tuesday 29th May, at Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
