Robbo Wants Deepdale Rocking

5 May 2018

Callum Robinson wants an atmosphere to rival the Arsenal and Manchester United FA Cup matches at Deepdale this weekend.

PNE face Burton Albion on Sunday in what is the biggest game of the season for the club and a win could see the Lilywhites into the Play-Offs.

With a big crowd expected, North End’s No.37 has spoken on the huge impact the atmosphere at Deepdale can have on the team.

“The games I can think of, like Arsenal and Man United in the cup games, that really helped us,” he told iFollow PNE.

“Against Arsenal we had a really big opportunity so that proves how important they are to us on the pitch.

“If we can get it rocking on Sunday, which I think we should be able to because it is our biggest game now of the season; the sum of what we can get from it is the Play-Offs, that would be amazing if we can do that.

“The main thing, it would be really good to get into the Play-Offs but if you look now from this weekend, a lot of teams have dropped out of giving themselves an opportunity.

“It’s only us guys who can do it. The likes of Bristol City, Sheffield United and Millwall; it shows how far we’ve come because you would put us in that sort of bracket but we’ve come beyond that now.

“We’re the only team that can actually get into that top six, so it just proves how far we have got as a team and staff. It’s going one way and it’s going forward.”

With North End’s Play-Off hopes resting on Derby County's game with Barnsley at Pride Park, Robinson discussed the pressure that all four teams are under.

“We’ve both got the same kind of fixture but I think there’s going to be a lot of pressure. Derby are at home and Barnsley are going to need a result, the same as Burton.

“There’s more pressure on Derby because they’re expected to be there but they’ve got a really good squad who would be on a lot of money.

“We’ve done really well this season – underdog of course – but we’ve just got to enjoy it. We’ve got to enjoy the week, the whole build up, and then enjoy it on Sunday and play how we’ve been playing all season.”

With a buzz around Springfields, there are no nerves in the PNE camp ahead of Sunday’s game. The young squad are looking forward to showing what they can do and continuing what has been excellent form this season.

“It’s really exciting. I think the lads are all going to be confident this week. It’s a massive game, we can’t hide the fact that it’s obviously a big game; we need to win to give ourselves the best opportunity.

“It’s what you want to be a part of as a footballer.

“They’re going to have to come out and take risks on the pitch. There’s a few fixtures this week, about five or six, that mean a lot to each team. We’re going to know they’re going to come at us and they’ve got some good players as well, you can’t underestimate them.

“I’m really looking forward to it, you’ve got to enjoy the week and enjoy being in this situation because we’ve worked every week to get to a situation like this.”
