Signed PNE Shirts To Go Under The Hammer For The Poppy Appeal

6 November 2018

Sky Bet, the title sponsor of the EFL, are auctioning hundreds of signed, match-worn Poppy shirts for The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

This year marks the centenary of the end of World War One, with The Premier League, The FA, EFL and the PFA joining forces under the banner of ‘Football Remembers’.

Shirts from Sky Bet Championship fixtures across October and November, are being auctioned on the CharityStars website, with the poppy shirts from the Rotherham United fixture on Saturday 27th October up for grabs.

The bookmaker has also donated over 400 tickets for EFL games to the Legion for use by current servicemen and women from across the UK.

On 11 November 1918, the Armistice was signed, signalling the end of World War One. One century on, England’s four football bodies will be part of the nationwide commemorations, with support from Premier League clubs, EFL clubs and the English national teams paying tribute through a variety of activities.

The Royal British Legion’s Ben France said: “As the Centenary of the First World War comes to a close, The Royal British Legion is asking the nation to say Thank You to the First World War generation, who served, sacrificed and changed our world forever. That’s not just the British Armed Forces, but those who fought alongside from all corners of the world, and the men, women and children who played their part and suffered hardships at home.

“With the auction of the 2018 poppy shirts soon to launch, we’re hugely grateful for the continuing support of our partners Sky Bet and the clubs of the English Football League.

"Through the incredible generosity of the fans, we will ensure today’s Armed Forces and their families receive the support they need, and their unique contribution is never forgotten”

The four previous Sky Bet Poppy shirt auctions have raised over £350,000 to date.
