Loan Report: October 2018

We take a look at how our eight players out on loan are getting on at their respective clubs.

Andy Boyle - Dundee
Andy Boyle joined Dundee on loan on deadline day in August, and made his debut in the defeat to Rangers at Ibrox in September. The defender has since made a further three appearance for the Scottish Premier League side since joining the club. Boyle scored the opening goal in their 2-0 win over Hamilton Academical, their first win in eight games. Next up for is a trip to Livingston on Saturday 20th October.

Ben Pringle - Grimsby Town
Ben Pringle was another player to head out on loan on deadline day, joining former PNE midfielder John Welsh at Grimsby Town. Pringle has featured four times for the Mariners who currently sit 21st in League Two. His latest appearance came in the 2-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers, with their next fixture coming at home to Exeter City on Saturday.

Connor Simpson - Hyde United
Striker Connor Simpson joined Hyde United on a month's loan until 17th November, and made his debut from the bench to play the final 25 minutes in their 3-1 defeat at home to Gainsborough Trinity at the weekend. Their next game sees Hyde host South Shields on Tuesday evening.

Kevin O'Connor - Crewe Alexandra
After joining Crewe Alexandra on loan on Saturday 29th August, O'Connor went straight in to the starting Xl for their 3-0 win at home to Macclesfield Town. The Irishman suffered a head injury in the following game against Tranmere Rovers, which kept him out for a for the draw with Cheltenham Town. Since returning to the side in the 1-0 win over Port Vale on Saturday 22nd September, the defender kept his place in the side to make it a total of seven appearances for Crewe so far. O'Connor was an unused substitute in the draw with Bury last weekend, and will be hoping to push his way back in to contention ahead of this weekend's trip to Stevenage.

Marnick Vermijl - MVV Maastricht
Marnick has started three of the last four games for MVV Maastricht after joining on loan on deadline day. The defender set up the winning goal in their 1-0 win over FC Twente on Sunday, with their next fixture seeing the visit of Jong PSV on Friday. MVV currently sit in mid-table, in tenth position in the second tier of Dutch football. 

Mathew Hudson - Bury
Young goalkeeper Mathew Hudson has made just one appearance for Bury since joining on loan in the summer. Hudson made his debut in the 2-1 defeat to Rochdale in the Checkatrade Trophy last month, and is currently battling with first choice 'keeper Joe Murphy for a starting spot.

Michael Howard - Hednesford Town
Michael Howard's time at Hednesford Town got off to a terrific start, after a scoring on his debut in the 2-1 win over Basford United, the young forward was then voted as the club's player of the month by the fans for August. Howard was also on the scoresheet in the 2-0 win over Tamworth in the FA Cup on 8th September, scoring with a superb effort from the left which nestled in to the top corner. Howard has made 15 appearances for Hednesford, nine of those starts and has scored five goals. Next up the visit of Lancaster City on Tuesday night.

Tommy Spurr - Fleetwood Town
After joining Fleetwood Town on loan in June, Tommy Spurr has made seven appearances for Joey Barton's side, his last coming in the 3-1 defeat to Barnsley on Saturday 29th September where he was forced off with a groin injury. The defender is nearing a return and will be hoping to make a return to the starting Xl once he is back to full fitness.
