PNE Trio In Contention For Wales Clash

16 October 2018

Alan Browne, Callum Robinson and Sean Maguire are in contention for Republic of Irelands' UEFA Nations League clash with Wales.

Martin O'Neill' side take on Wales at Aviva Stadium this evening in a crucial tie in Dublin.

Robinson earned his third cap for Ireland on Saturday evening as a second half substitute against Denmark, and after an impressive performance off the bench, the forward will be hoping he has done enough to earn a start against Ryan Giggs' side.

Sean Maguire was an unused substitute at the weekend, while Alan Browne was not named in the matchday squad, but both remain in contention for Tuesday night's game.

Speaking to the Irish media ahead of the game, Martin O'Neil spoke of his attacking options, and Robinson's impact on Saturday.

On Robinson, he said: “He gave us extra energy, gave us some impetus, took on a couple of players. Really decent.

“He’s a nice footballer and a nice lad, though that doesn’t guarantee him a place in the team.”

And on Maguire, he added:

"Sean, who definitely has ability, he’s a nice natural talent and hopefully he’s got a proper career ahead of him at club and international level.

“But he’s only played 15 minutes for Preston [this season], but if needs be we’ll think about."

We will have updates across social media and reaction here on PNE.Com if any of our players are involved this evening.
