Manager Alex Neil will be without Josh Harrop after the announcement he is ruled out for the season after the injury he picked up against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

The North End No.10 ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament as he played the through ball that led to the Lilywhites’ second goal against the Baggies.

A scan on Sunday revealed the extent of the injury, after the midfielder had been helped from the field, and he will now undergo an operation to repair the knee before he starts the seven months or so rehabilitation programme.
Billy Bodin, who suffered the exact same injury in pre-season is ten weeks into his work after the operation and will also miss the majority, if not all, of the season.

Paul Gallagher missed the weekend with a back injury and will be assessed before the final squad is picked, whilst Lukas Nmecha should be fine to return after a slight niggle, whilst Sean Maguire is back in training, but will not be risked until he is fully ready for a return.

Villa boss Steve Bruce, who was at Deepdale to watch the Lilywhites on Saturday, after his side drew with Bristol City on Friday night, had to withdraw striker Tammy Abraham late in the game with a calf injury.

The England front man will need to be assessed before the experienced manager decides whether to risk him again against Alex Neil’s side under the lights on Tuesday night.
