Ripley On An Action Packed Debut

27 April 2019

Shot stopper, Connor Ripley was delighted to finally make his long awaited debut this afternoon after what’s been a frustrating start to his North End career.

Since signing for the Lilywhites in January, Connor has had to bide his time with the recent form of fellow goalkeeper Declan Rudd coupled with injuries of his own has meant his playing time for Alex Neil’s side has been restricted until today.

On making his debut at Deepdale, Connor said: “It’s nice to get a game under my belt.

“I got pulled in by the gaffer yesterday and was told to get myself ready like I always do. Overall, I thought it was a decent debut. Although we’ve conceded three goals, it was three good goals and goals that I don’t think many ‘keepers could deal with.

“It’s been a stop start few months for me. I’ve went over on my ankle and then my knee started playing up and then I’ve finally got on the bench against Wigan, started today and the fans have been brilliant. I got a great reception from the fans which is always nice.”

There was certainly no end of season feel about today’s game as both sides went for the win, resulting in a 3-3 thriller at Deepdale.

“Goals, yellow cards, red cards - it was an entertaining game and it had everything so it was a good day" continued Connor on being kept busy this afternoon.

“I don’t think it would have been fair for the fans who pay good money to watch us so it’s one of those things were you’ve got to be professional about it and we’ve got to do things right.

“We’ve got Brentford away next and it’s not going to be an easy game - they’re very difficult to play against but if I do play, I’m pretty sure I’m going to have a lot to do."
