The Irish international forward missed the win over Stoke City on Wednesday night after a concussion suffered in Saturday’s game at Swansea City, but he was expected to return to training on Thursday ready to be available against Lee Bullen’s side.

Fellow forward David Nugent is still ruled out with the calf strain he picked up in a behind closed doors match a couple of weeks ago.
It has now also been confirmed that Louis Moult is likely to miss the whole season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury to his left knee against Swansea City.

Andrew Hughes has missed the last three games, but at the press conference on Thursday morning, the manager revealed that the left back would be out on the grass that day and will be assessed ahead of the game.

Wednesday stand-in boss Lee Bullen has a number of options available to him. In Tuesday night’s win over Luton Town, which took them top of the league at the time, he switched up his full backs, Liam Palmer missing out due to a back problem while Dominic Iorfa was left out of the matchday squad.

Sam Winnall and Fernando Forestieri could both push for selection as well, whilst Barry Bannan went back into the side for the victory over the Hatters, thanks to winger Kadeem Harris’ second half strike.
