Preston North End’s Whites Christmas campaign has begun for 2019 with Sean Maguire and Michael Crowe paying a visit to two young children who have had a tough couple of years.
The campaign is designed to recognise Preston North End fans who have gone above and beyond for friends, family or others in the community, as well as those who have gone through tough times and may be in need of a boost.
Players from the first team squad will be out in force over the coming weeks, meeting those who have been nominated for a Whites Christmas surprise as the festive season nears, with some members of the squad having already been out into the local community.
Sean Maguire and Michael Crowe were some of the first as they paid a surprise visit to see two young boys at their school.
The children were presented with a number of PNE-themed gifts, including hats, scarves and footballs, as well as having the chance to quiz Maguire and Crowe about all things North End.
The youngsters made clear that they are mad about football – and North End – as Maguire and Crowe spoke of the importance of making time to see special young fans in the community.
“It was amazing to see the two boys and seeing how positive they are,” Maguire said. “I was actually speaking to one of them who said he was speechless meeting myself and Crowey, but we couldn’t get a word in!
“To see what the two boys have been through and seeing how positive and energetic they are is testament to how they’ve obviously been brought up by their mum and dad.
“They were amazing, 90 per cent of what we talked about was just purely down to football and they love their football and they love PNE.”
Crowe added: “They’re so positive and it brings them so much joy. Likewise, this brings us joy to come and help and really show that we’re here for them like they are for us on a Saturday.”
There will be much more to come from our Whites Christmas visits over the coming weeks; keep an eye on our social media channels to see what the players have been getting up to in the local community.
