This final edition of the Official PNE Podcast of the calendar year is a Christmas special with a panel of guests all joining host Jonathan Breeze in the studio.
The ‘Cumbrian Cannavaro’ himself, Paul Huntington is joined by former team-mate and PNE skipper John Welsh, plus super-fan and British Welterweight boxing champion Scott Fitzgerald to talk everything from PNE, to Tyson Fury, to Graham Westley and plenty more in between!
Hunts, who recently returned to the team and has been in fine form since then, talks about how difficult it is to be out of the side, mentally more than physically, as well as discussing the recent run of results, the Christmas fixtures and the players’ hospital visit which preceded his time on the podcast.
Welsh talks about giving up housework to get back enjoying his football with Atherton Collieries, as well as the incredible form of his boyhood club Liverpool, where he started his career. He also reflects on the impact Graham Westley had on both his and Huntington’s career, as the former North End boss returns to management with his fourth spell as Stevenage manager.
‘Madman’ Fitzgerald explains why he missed PNE’s 2015 Play-Off Final, but talks about his own impact on that promotion season and why the odds are looking good for more Lilywhites success in 2020. He also tells the podcast about the ‘real’ Tyson Fury, with whom he has been training up in Morecambe... and there’s even a reference to ‘No Context Eddie Hearn’ thrown in for good measure.
