NCS Matchday Hits Preston

11 February 2019

Tomorrow night’s game is Preston North End’s turn to celebrate all things National Citizen Service as our designated NCS matchday.

In 2018, NCS matchday reached over three million people with over 500 footballers across the country celebrating NCS and the young people who have given back to the local community.

The PNE first team tomorrow night will be donning NCS colours for their warm up, whilst just shy of 50 young people who are taking part in this summer’s NCS at Preston North End will be joining us in preparation for their programme.

They’ll take part in a number of activities at the community offices where they’ll get to know their fellow participants more before being given a free ticket to watch Alex Neil’s side take on Norwich City at Deepdale.

What's more, keep an eye out for Deepdale Duck who'll be around the ground in the build up to kick off with the NCS photo frame, grabbing as many people as possible for a photo!

NCS is a flagship government initiative that provides young people aged 16-17 the chance to take on new challenges, experience exciting activities, make long-lasting friendships and develop vital skills that will support them later in life. Supporting young people’s transition to adulthood, the programme develops their strength of character, giving a sense of purpose, optimism and belonging.

Almost 500,000 young people have completed the NCS programme to date, giving up an incredible 12 million hours to social action projects since NCS started.

Preston North End's PFA NCS Player Ambassador, Alan Browne said: "I’m honoured to be chosen as an NCS Ambassador for PNE and really look forward to celebrating all the great work local teens have done in the community while taking part.

“NCS is a fantastic programme that gives young people the chance to expand their horizons by getting involved in new activities and challenges, whilst also making great friends and benefiting our local area.”

Are you aged between 16-17? How will you be spending your summer? Why not make the most of it and sign up to NCS at PNE? There’s just a limited number of places left, so get involved before it’s too late!
