Loan Round Up

14 January 2019

We take a look at how our five players out on loan are getting on at their respective clubs.

Ben Pringle – Grimsby Town
After a deadline day move in the summer, Ben Pringle has made 18 appearances for League Two Grimsby Town. He most recently featured in their latest defeat as they were beaten 2-0 by struggling Macclesfield Town at home, with the midfielder being substituted after 63 minutes. Their next game is away to Lincoln City where they will hope to get back to winning ways and move up from their current league position, 15th.

Chris Maxwell – Charlton Athletic
After sealing a loan switch to Charlton this month, Chris Maxwell is yet to feature for the League One club. He watched on from the bench as his new side recorded a 3-0 away victory over Shrewsbury Town. The Addicks, managed by Lee Bowyer, currently sit fourth in the league as they push for promotion back to the Championship. Maxwell faces the task of displacing current Charlton goalkeeper Dillon Phillips in the coming months.

Connor Simpson – Carlisle United
Striker Connor Simpson registered his first minutes in a Carlisle shirt last weekend as he came off the bench in a 3-0 loss to Northampton Town. Simpson entered the action after 63 minutes but was unable to prevent a defeat for the promotion chasers. After a loan move to Hyde United earlier in the season, the youngster will be looking to earn more minutes at Football League level in the second half of the 2018/19 campaign.

Marnick Vermijl – MVV Maastricht
Belgian Marnick Vermijl has been left frustrated in recent weeks due to an injury which has kept him out of action for MVV Maastricht. The Dutch Second Division side currently sit 13th in the league. The defender, who is on a season-long loan has so far made 11 appearances, scoring one goal and will be hoping to add to those totals when he returns to action.

Michael Howard – Stalybridge Celtic
Young winger Michael Howard made an impressive start to life at new club, Stalybridge Celtic, as he registered an assist on his debut. It proved to be crucial as his new side secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Hednesford Town, the side he had been on loan to earlier this season. Stalybridge currently sit 11th in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.
