Preston North End entertain Swansea City in their first home Championship game of 2019 this Saturday, the 61st meeting of the sides.
It is, however, the first meeting of the Lilywhites and the Welsh outfit since April 2011, when a brace of Iain Hume goals was enough to give the home side the win at Deepdale, despite Ashley Williams’ strike for the Swans.
Manager Alex Neil comes up against a former mentor, with Graham Potter’s assistant, Billy Reid, having been the man to take the PNE gaffer back to Scotland, when he was manager at Hamilton back in 2005.
But there will be no sentimentality from the Lilywhites’ boss, who will look to get his side back on a positive run of results, as he welcomes a number of players back from injury, suspension, plus has his four January transfer window acquisitions available for selection for the first time.
