Baxter And O’Reilly In Goal Of The Month Running

13 May 2019

Preston North End midfielders Jack Baxter and Adam O’Reilly have both been nominated for the League Football Education’s [LFE] final Goal of the Month competition for the 2018/19 season.

Both Jack’s and Adam’s recognised efforts came in the same game, when the youth team faced Wigan Athletic in last month’s Lancashire FA Professional Youth Cup final.

Although the young Lilywhites lost out on the day, the duo took plenty of plaudits by scoring a stunning goal apiece – Adam first on target by hammering into the top corner from distance, before Jack showed great improvisation to lob the opposition goalkeeper from inside his own half.

North End’s young pairing have both already received recognition from the LFE this season, with Jack having been named in the ‘The 11’ for February, while Adam gained the same recognition last May, before more recently winning the January Goal of the Month competition.

Fellow PNE youngsters Ethan Walker and Josh Pollard also had strikes put forward for the prize in November and March respectively, with Jack becoming the fourth separate Lilywhites player to be nominated for the award this term.

The two goals will be entered in the LFE’s poll to decide the winner for the contest, which includes six other strikes from across the Academy leagues in the month of April.

The winner will then be entered into a Goal of the Season contest, joining the other eight winning monthly strikes from across the campaign, in the coming weeks.

You can vote for Jack and Adam via two methods, firstly through the LFE’s website poll and secondly by sharing the designated hashtag for each player on Twitter – it’s #LFEGOALB for Jack and #LFEGOALH for Adam. Voting closes at 12 noon on Friday 17 May.

Make sure you support the duo via both formats, with all votes from across the website poll and on social media added together to decide the winner!
