Browne And Maguire Feature In Ireland Draw

18 November 2019

Alan Browne and Sean Maguire both featured for Republic of Ireland in their 1-1 draw with Denmark in Dublin.

The Republic of Ireland needed to win to secure a place at next summer's European Championships, but a draw means they will now face the Play-Offs in March with a place at the tournament still up for grabs.

Browne played the full 90 minutes once again after also playing the full game in their friendly on Thursday night, while Sean Maguire came on for the final ten minutes as Ireland chased the game.

Mick McCarthy's side had the better of the chances on the night, but Denmark opened the scoring with their first shot on target on 73 minutes.

Shortly after Maguire's introduction, Ireland found the breakthrough as Matt Doherty headed in the equaliser. Despite a late rally as they pushed for that all important winner, the Play-Offs beckon for Ireland with their hopes for a place at Euro 2020 still alive.

Both Browne and Maguire will return to Springfields on Thursday ahead of the return to league action with a trip to Derby County on Saturday.
