Josh Harrop Looking Ahead Instead Of Dwelling On Hull City Defeat

27 November 2019

Josh Harrop says PNE will waste no time dwelling on Wednesday evening’s 4-0 defeat to Hull City.

The midfielder made a return from injury in the 58th minute, but at that stage the Lilywhites were already three goals down.

Harrop did make an impact, though, coming closest for PNE in the second half as he hit the post 20 minutes from time.

Speaking to iFollow PNE, Harrop said: “For myself I’ve got a couple of minutes under my belt which is good for me to get back.

“We’ve been in great form all season. This is a little bit of a setback, but we’ve got to put it behind us.

“We can’t dwell on it; it’s a game of football at the end of the day. We’ve not won it, we move on, we take the form we have been in, put this game behind us and we crack on.”

PNE started the better of the two sides, with Sean Maguire hitting the woodwork within the first five minutes and Harrop recognised that it’s missed chances like those which can change games.

Josh said: “We had a few chances which could go in, but it’s not happened for us today.

“We weren’t good enough as a team, we weren’t compact enough and we didn’t work together enough.

“Even when we did go down a couple of goals we could have been more compact as a team and try to prevent the other goals.”

Hull City goalscorers Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki are a key part of how they play and the two were at the forefront of everything the Tigers threw at PNE.

Josh added: “They broke on us well; that’s their game plan in most games. They play the wide men and they break on the counter attack and for them it worked perfectly.

“I think we were a bit stretched throughout the game. We didn’t pick up spaces and didn’t man mark our players as good as we probably should so that’s why they got in so many times.

“It’s one of them games we weren’t good enough in it. We knew what their plan was and we didn’t work to try and prevent that.”
