Charlton Athletic v Preston North End Match Preview

31 October 2019

The Lilywhites head to The Valley for the first time since 2015, looking to pick up a win that would take them top of the EFL Championship on Sunday afternoon.

With West Bromwich Albion not playing until their trip to Stoke on Monday night, Alex Neil’s men can put themselves at the summit of the second tier – at least for 24 hours – for the first time since December 2006.

However, it will be a very tough task, with Lee Bowyer having done a superb job with the Addicks and having adapted to life back in the Championship very quickly, picking up some impressive results that leave them just behind PNE and just outside the Play-Off places.

Our last trip to face Charlton proved to be a memorable one, as Paul Gallagher grabbed a brace – including a stunning effort from a tight angle – and Daniel Johnson added a third in a 3-0 win in a night match in October 2015.

Both men will hope to enjoy this trip - in front of the Sky Sports cameras - as much, with the team looking to build on last weekend’s trilling derby day comeback against local rivals Blackburn Rovers at Deepdale.
