Preston North End centre half Patrick Bauer is looking for a quick response to the weekend’s ending of the team’s eight match unbeaten run.
Speaking to iFollow PNE ahead of the visit of Leeds United to Deepdale, the German defender said the side were disappointed with the performance at the Madejski Stadium, but looking for their home form to continue against the side in second place in the table.
“We were really disappointed on Saturday, but we have a chance already [on Tuesday night] to show a good performance,” said the No.21. “We play against Leeds at home; we have been really good at home, shown good form and we want that to continue showing that.
“They have a really good fan base, we expect a strong side together, but we are looking to put in a good performance and win the game at home.
“We will have to be patient. The manager prepares us really well for the game and I am sure we will be ready to go.”
The game with Mark Bowen’s side at the weekend was one that frustrated the players, as Pat explained: “We want to start another run. We have been unbeaten for a long period of time,” he continued.
“We didn’t deserve to lose at Reading, but we did and now it is about bouncing back and going on another run.
“For most of the game we defended well, so to concede after 90 plus eight is frustrating.
“We didn’t show our best performance and we could have got away with a draw, but that didn’t happen and it is now about bouncing back.”
Now nearly three months into the season, the former Charlton Athletic man feels his partnership with Ben Davies is getting better and better and he is looking forward to furthering it with two big home games this week.
“We know what each other’s strengths and weaknesses are now. I have played with him since the start of the season and we feel comfortable playing together – he is a top player.
“Right now, my focus is on the game against Leeds, but after tomorrow I will focus on the game on Saturday and I am really excited to play my first derby,” he added.
