International Preview: September 2019

4 September 2019

Preston North End will once again be represented in the Republic of Ireland squad during the international break with Alan Browne away with Mick McCarthy's squad.

Browne made the final 25-man squad along with North End teammate Sean Maguire, but the striker had to withdraw following an eye injury which kept him out of the draw with Nottingham Forest.

Republic of Ireland face Switzerland on Thursday evening in their latest Euro 2020 qualifier as they look to further secure their place at the top of group D.

McCarthy's side are unbeaten in their qualifying campaign so far, with three wins and a draw from the opening four games.

Their clash with Switzerland takes place at the Aviva Stadium on Thursday 5th September, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

The boys in green are then back in action in Dublin on Tuesday night for their friendly against Bulgaria, again a 7.45pm kick-off.

Should Browne be involved in either game, we will have updates and reaction on PNE.Com and across social media.

Elsewhere, second year scholar Jimmy Corcoran has been called up to the Republic of Ireland U18s squad for their three-game tournament in Sweden.

They take on Austria on Thursday 5th September, then Sweden on Saturday 7th September before taking on Norway on Monday 9th September.
