First Senior Ireland Goal For Browne In Bulgaria Win

10 September 2019

Midfielder Alan Browne marked his fifth cap for Republic of Ireland with a goal in the win over Bulgaria on Tuesday evening.

Browne, who was a late substitute against Switzerland in their Euro 2020 qualifier on Thursday night, started for Mick McCarthy's side at the Aviva Stadium in Ireland's 3-1 win, with his goal opening the scoring on the night.

The 24-year-old was given a starting role and played the full 90 minutes as the boys in green secured victory and maintained their unbeaten record since Mick McCarthy returned as manager.

Though Browne was on target in Ireland's testimonial game against Celtic in May 2018, this will go down as his first senior goal for his country.

The Irishman will return to Springfields on Thursday morning to join his North End teammate as preparations continue ahead of this weekend's visit of Brentford.
