Manager Alex Neil will hope to recall a number of players to his side for Saturday’s visit of Lee Johnson’s Bristol City to Deepdale.
Ben Pearson, Andrew Hughes, Patrick Bauer and Sean Maguire all missed Tuesday night’s clash with Premier League champions Manchester City, for a variety of reasons, but the gaffer will hope to be able to recall them all for the game against the Robins.
Declan Rudd should also return in goal, with Connor Ripley having been between the sticks for the Carabao Cup third round tie, whilst Billy Bodin – who missed the Citizens tie with a slight calf problem – could also be back.
Tom Clarke is now back outside running, leaving just long-term casualty Louis Moult (ACL) definitely ruled out of the latest Championship encounter. David Nugent will hope to try and be involved again, his run out of Tuesday 12 years and four months since his last for the club – a record!
For the visitors, striker Benik Afobe has suffered a similar injury to that of the aforementioned Moult and looks set to sit out the season.
Hungary's Adam Nagy should return after an ankle problem, but defender Tomas Kalas (hamstring) is still out, but after another week’s training under his belt, former PNE man Bailey Wright (thigh) could return to the squad.
Another former North Ender, Josh Brownhill, should captain the Robins against his former employers at Deepdale.
