PNE Face Salford City In EFL Football Manager Cup

26 April 2020

Preston North End will take on Salford City in the second round of the EFL Football Manager Cup!

The competition was set up by the EFL alongside Football Manager to provide football fans with some competitive action while the real action remain on hold.

The Lilywhites will make the virtual trip to Salford on Tuesday 28th April, with a 1pm kick-off. We will bring you updates across social media once the game is underway.

Should the game be level after 90 minutes, the tie will go to extra-time and penalties, with no replays in the competition.

North End progressed to the last 32 with an emphatic 10-1 win over Crawley Town in the first round.

Virtual boss and PNE fan James Moulding was selected by supporters from a shortlist of applicants on social media, and he didn't disappoint in his first game in the virtual dugout.

Daniel Johnson was the man who stood out in that game, scoring a perfect rating of ten, scoring five of North End's goals. There was also a hattrick for Alan Browne, while Billy Bodin and Scott Sinclair were also on the scoresheet.

Moulding also saw his side have an unbelievable 60 shots throughout the 90 minutes and he will be hoping for more of the same from his side against Salford in round two.

The tournament is also looking to raise awareness and support for the EFL's charity partner Mind. During these difficult times, their services are needed more than ever so if you are in a position to do so, please support them where you can by clicking here.

The schedule for the remainder of the tournament is as follows:

Round Two – week commencing 27th April
The ‘Round of 16’ – week commencing 4th May
The Quarter Finals – 11th May to 14th May
