Preston North End is to auction off the shirts worn and prepared for the club’s 5,000th Football League game against Derby County in aid of NHS charities.
The 20 match worn shirts from the game and a further five prepared for the match, but not used, are available to bid on, on the club’s eBay site.
The shirts are truly unique. They carry the changed ‘Never Chase Losses’ logo on the front, the special NHS logo worn during the final nine regular league games of the season and many even include the pouch where the players’ GPS units usually sit.
The auction will end at 8pm on Sunday 9th August, with all the money raised going to the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Paula Wilson, Head of Charities and Fundraising at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are thrilled to have been selected as Preston North End’s chosen charity for such an amazing landmark auction!
“PNE have supported our staff throughout the pandemic and we are so grateful for this amazing gesture of continued support.
“These player shirts really are one of a kind, so we hope the club’s huge fan base will get behind this and help raise additional funds that will make a huge difference to our patients as well as staff.
“On behalf of the Charity, thank you once again to all at PNE for your invaluable support and good luck to everyone who submits a bid!”
The 20 shirts for the players who were in the matchday squad against Derby County, on Wednesday 1st July, have a starting price of £99.99 and the five shirts prepared for players who were not in the matchday squad will start at £49.99.
