The One And Only Issue Eight

The latest edition of the club’s matchday programme previews the visit of Wycombe Wanderers with centre half Jordan Storey.

The last time Jordan Storey came up against Gareth Ainsworth’s side, he had to leave the pitch ‘in a daze’.

He is hoping this time it’s Wanderers who are shocked, as PNE look to chalk up a second Champi-onship home win of the season against the league’s newcomers.

Defender Jordan was playing for Exeter City when the two League Two promotion rivals clashed at St James Park in February 2018.

It was a breakthrough season for the then 20-year-old, who had come into professional football late, previously playing as an amateur in the Dorset League and studying a BTEC in Sport at a local college.

The Grecians signed him up aged 18, but it took him a while to secure a regular place in the starting line-up, which he eventually did in the mid-2017/18 season, and that’s when he came up against former PNE favourite Ainsworth’s side, who were promoted that year, while Exeter lost out to Tom Bayliss’ Coventry City at Wembley.

“While Wycombe are new to the division, I do know a bit about them,” said Jordan, now 23. “I played against them for Exeter, I remember it being a physical contest and unfortunately took an accidental knock off Ade Akinfenwa.

“I certainly felt it, he is a strong lad, and I had to leave the field in a daze in the 45th minute. I want-ed to carry on but the physios wouldn’t let me. It ended up 1-1.

“Wycombe have started to find their feet in this league and are probably punching above their weight financially by being here.

“They have Akinfenwa who is an impact player off the bench, he is a handful, but we know they have threats all over, but it’s an important game for us to kick on again, especially at home.”

There’s an extended chat with Jordan in Saturday’s 84-page edition of The One And Only, along with further interviews with Ben Pearson, Paul Gallagher and Brad Potts, plus all the usual content.

Although everyone loves unwrapping something over the festive period, unfortunately the Christmas and New Year editions of the club’s official matchday programme won’t be able to be delivered to their normal timescales.

Due to restrictions in place across the country, and the usual seasonal strain placed on the Royal Mail’s service, the club’s official matchday publications of 'The One And Only’ on Tuesday 29th December against Coventry City and Nottingham Forest on Saturday 2nd January won’t be dispatched for a pre-fixture arrival.

These editions will still be mailed out and en route in the Royal Mail’s system, but the club’s official programme partners Ignition Sports Media won’t be able to guarantee any pre-match arrivals during the festive period, until normal service resumes from the week commencing 4th January 2021.
