It’s an 8pm kick-off this Wednesday night as Alex Neil’s Preston North End head to the Potteries to take on Michael O’Neill’s Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium.
The hosts are six games unbeaten at home, whilst the Lilywhites’ away form has been positive of late, going five unbeaten and winning the last two – so it should be an entertaining affair.
Both sides picked up excellent wins at the weekend, the Potters moving four points clear of the bottom four with a convincing win at home to Charlton Athletic, whilst North End went back into the Play-Off positions with the 2-1 win over local rivals Wigan Athletic.
The appointment of the Northern Ireland boss as manager at City has seen an upturn in form and it will be a big test for North End, against an experienced and organised opposition with plenty of quality.
Last year’s trip proved a successful one, with Alan Browne and Brad Potts scoring the goals and Declan Rudd saving a late penalty, as PNE ran out winners and a performance of that quality will be needed again in order to get anything out of the midweek game.
