It’s the first home Saturday league game of 2020, as North End look for three points against Lee Bowyer’s Charlton Athletic this coming weekend.
For Lilywhites supporters who didn’t make the short trip Ewood Park last weekend, it could also be the first chance to see January signing Scott Sinclair in action, with the forward one option for manager Alex Neil for the clash with the Addicks.
The return trip, back at the beginning of November, saw North End come out on top – quite literally – as their 1-0 win, thanks to Paul Gallagher’s penalty – saw them rise to the summit of the Championship for about 18 hours.
The PNE boss will be hoping for a similar gritty performance to that day, when his side fought hard and earned the win thanks to Gally’s spot kick, after Jayden Stockley had been brought down by Jason Pearce in the box.
For the visitors, they have had a chance off the field that day, with new owners, and a fresh approach at The Valley. The loss of loanees Conor Gallagher and Beram Kayal this week have left them with holes to fill, but it will mean a swift return to Deepdale for Andre Green.
