The Player Of The Year Interviews: 2012 – Thorsten Stuckmann

4 June 2020

We’ve been busy speaking to former Player of the Year winners since its’ inception in 1968, as we look ahead to the 5,000th game upon resumption and today our focus is 2012 recipient Thorsten Stuckmann.

The German goalkeeper talks from his home about how his move to Deepdale came about, the trial game he played up at Morecambe’s Globe Arena, through to his last game for the club against Manchester United at Deepdale.

He explains whether he felt Wayne Rooney had made the most of the penalty against United in that FA Cup game, as well as talking about his overall penalty record for the club, both saving and taking!
He also discusses his various goalkeeping coaches and his team-mates in the custodian department and reflects on his departure from the club.
