The Player Of The Year Interviews: 2016 – Greg Cunningham

We’ve been busy speaking to former Player of the Year winners since its’ inception in 1968, as we look ahead to the 5,000th game upon resumption and today our recipient of the Sir Tom Finney Trophy is 2016 winner and the longest yet of our Zoom chats for iFollow PNE.

Greg Cunningham was the recipient of the trophy four years ago and he speaks to iFollow PNE for an hour long look back at his entire career from growing up in Ireland to currently fighting back from injury with current club Cardiff City.
 
He discusses coming through the system at Manchester City and about the influence of the world class stars at a changing Cityzens, whilst also talking about the importance of his early loan moves under Sven Goran Eriksson at Leicester City and at Nottingham Forest.
The Irish international left back also mentions being on the same pitch as Messi in one of his games for Ireland – albeit for a short space of time – and about his move to Deepdale and his three seasons with the Lilywhites.
