Daniel Johnson Wins NWFA Championship Player Of The Year

11 November 2020

Preston North End midfielder Daniel Johnson has won the Championship Player of the Year award at this year’s North West Football Awards.

After an impressive 2019/20 campaign, in which he was the club’s leading goalscorer, DJ picked up the award ahead of other nominees Blackburn Rovers striker Adam Armstrong and Sam Morsy, who played for Wigan Athletic last season.

Johnson was a standout performer for North End last season, scoring 12 goals from midfield and picking up the club’s Player of the Year and the Player’s Player of the Year awards.

The award was voted for through a combination of votes from supporters as well as a judging panel, and DJ wanted to thank the PNE faithful for their support.

On winning the award, our No.11 said: “I just want to thank the Pitching In North West Football Awards for this trophy, and thank all of the fans that voted for me. Obviously it was a great season for me personally and hopefully this season there will be even better things coming.”
