North End Shortlisted For Five Awards At The NWFA

15 October 2020

Preston North End have been named as finalists in five categories at this year's North West Football Awards.

Daniel Johnson and Josh Harrop have been named as finalists in the 2020 North West Football Awards in the Championship Player of the Season and the Athletic Rising Star of the Year Award, respectively.

There is also recognition for the club’s #PNEAtHome – Where In The World campaign in partnership with FCI Markets, which has been shortlisted in the Best Club Marketing, Sponsorship or Engagement Campaign category.

Johnson and Harrop were included as part of a public vote to determine the finalists in their respective categories, with winners in each category now to be decided by a judging panel.

Johnson is up against former Wigan Athletic and now Middlesbrough midfielder Sam Morsy, as well as Adam Armstrong of Blackburn Rovers, in the Championship Player of the Season category.

Meanwhile, Josh Harrop faces competition from Blackburn Rovers’ Lewis Travis, Burnley’s Dwight McNeil, Manchester City’s Tommy Doyle, Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood and ex-Wigan Athletic, now Fulham defender Antonee Robinson, for the Athletic Rising Star of the Year Award.

In the Best Club Marketing, Sponsorship or Engagement Campaign category, North End have been recognised for the #PNEAtHome campaign in association with foreign exchange partner FCI Markets.

The campaign asked Lilywhites supporters to share photos of themselves on social media, showcasing where they were supporting the team from while matches were being played behind closed doors.

Five lucky fans were selected as winners ahead of each of the final four behind-closed-doors home games of last season, having their names and photos shown on the LED boards at Deepdale and being rewarded with a 2019/20 PNE away shirt, courtesy of FCI Markets.

Winners came from across the world, from as far as Brazil, Colombia, the USA and New Zealand and multiple other international destinations, to much closer to home in Leyland and Chorley!
