Ryan Ledson admitted that Preston North End’s display against Brentford was below par after the Bees left Deepdale with a 5-0 win.
The Lilywhites showed encouraging signs in the first half but trailed by two at the break after a clinical showing from the visitors, who added a further three goals after the break.
Speaking to iFollow PNE after the game, the No.18 said: “No, it wasn’t [our day]. The first half summed it up really. The two shots they had and they scored two goals, they were clinical.
“I think then second half we’ve had to go for it and we’ve been picked off. It’s a disappointing afternoon, especially after two positive results. But we have to dust ourselves down and go again.
“I think the manner we got beat today wasn’t the best. Emil’s had a chance, it’s come off the lad’s knee, if that goes in at 1-1, then it’s a completely different game – but it’s all ifs, buts and maybes.
“At the end of the day, we’ve been beaten comfortably and it’s not good enough.”
While acknowledging that the display wasn’t good enough, Ledson felt taking four points from their last three games – all against promotion-chasing sides – was a tally they would have taken beforehand.
“They’re a good side, a very good side. We’ve took four points from arguably the three best teams in the league now and I think we’d have taken that.
“Yes, it’s a tough one to take, it’s going to hurt us, but we’ll have a day off tomorrow and then we’ve got a full week’s training ready for Stoke and that’s a massive game for us.
“You can say arguably against Norwich and against Swansea, we had the luck. We had Pottsy’s goal, which took a deflection and went in, and Scotty’s one which has bounced against the defender and went in. We’ll take our medicine and we’ll move on.”
