Preston North End will mark this year’s Gentry Day on Saturday 8th May, with a virtual celebration to remember the members of ‘The Gentry’ that we have sadly lost.
With fans still unable to attend games at the moment, the club felt it was important to still mark this special occasion and the final game of the season, which sees a trip to Nottingham Forest, has been selected as the chosen fixture.
Last season we marked the day with a virtual event across social media which was hugely popular and allowed us to come together as one to remember loved ones, and this year it feels even more poignant after a challenging year for so many people.
This year we will be working alongside the Preston North End Community and Education Trust to mark the occasion, spreading the word of Gentry Day in the local community while also supporting the Trust’s mental health programmes.
The club will also be producing a tribute to those you are remembering on Gentry Day this year, which will be shared on the day of the game.
If you have a loved one you would like to be included in the tribute, please send a photograph alongside their full name, as well as a short message or audio clip of your message, to firstname.lastname@example.org with subject ‘Gentry Day 2021’. Please send your tributes by 5pm on Wednesday 5th May and ensure you have the permission of the family before sending in your tribute.
As is tradition, we will also be encouraging supporters to don their traditional suits and bowler hats at home on the day of the game! We would love you to share your photos on matchday across social media, or you can email them to email@example.com and we will feature a selection of these on the club website.
We would encourage all supporters to join us virtually to make this Gentry Day special, and we will be releasing more details about our Gentry Day activities over the coming days and weeks in the build up to the game.
