The One And Only Issue Three: Swansea City

27 August 2021

Top goalscorer so far this season Emil Riis is our cover star for this weekend's The One And Only as Swansea City come to Deepdale.

The Danish striker, who has four goals in all competitions so far this term, first joined PNE last October, at a time where the world was still in the thick of the pandemic, so the move over from his home nation unsurprisingly took some adjusting, perhaps more than normal given the circumstances.

In fact, he moved over by himself, living alone for the first ten days at the Farington Lodge in Preston before then getting an apartment to himself in Manchester.

Emil’s girlfriend, Caroline, and his dog, Cava, are now with him though, and he’ll soon have more of his family over from back home.

He told The One And Only: “It’s nice to have someone to come back to after training. It’s good to have my little family here now.

“It only takes half an hour to come here to Euxton so it’s not like I’m too far from anyone either. I live in the middle of Manchester so it’s nice to have the city around me and it’s easy for my family.

“They’re going to come over soon for the first time too which is going to be really nice. They’ve only seen me when I went back home in the summer break.

“They haven’t been over here since I signed because of Covid and lockdown so it’s been horrible, but now they’ve opened up the rules they don’t have to quarantine so they can come over.

“They’ll be at Deepdale on 18th September for the home game against West Brom. I haven’t played a game in front of them since back in Denmark! It must have been about one and a half years ago since they saw me play, so it’ll be nice for them.”

There's plenty more from Emil in this weekend's programme, including his form so far this season and his ambitions to play for his senior national team.

Also in this edition of The One And Only: Jamie Thomas answers fan questions, Tom Barkhuizen talks us through his dream dinner party, while Sepp van den Berg reflects on his first goal in professional football.

Programmes will be on sale around the ground on Saturday, or alternatively you can get your copy sent straight to your home by following this link.
