After joining on loan from Stoke City for the remainder of the season, defender Liam Lindsay is looking to help North End push up the table and can’t wait to get started.
Speaking to iFollow PNE after making the move to Deepdale, the 25-year-old said: “It’s been pretty quick and I’m just happy to have it done and dusted and I’m looking forward to it.
“It is a big attraction coming here and the gaffer wanted me here which gives me confidence so I’m just looking to get as many games as possible and help the team.
“I remember the gaffer from when he was up there, I was at Partick Thistle when he was at Hamilton, we were kind of fighting at the bottom of the table for a couple of seasons but I’m just buzzing to play for him really. I gave him a call yesterday and everything was in place and everything was right for me.”
Liam joined the rest of the squad at Euxton on Monday for his first day of training, and he was happy to get the move done early on deadline day to make the most of his first day at the club.
“You just want to meet the lads straight away, get settled in and train with them. It’s good to get it done early instead of it dragging on later tonight and I’m looking forward to the day.
“It gives me a full week with the team to get used to people and they can get used to me so I think that can only help.
“It’s about partnerships all over the park, if you’ve got a good partnership with the other centre half and the left back or right back depending on which side you’re playing, it makes you stronger as a team, you learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses. That’s what I will be looking to do this week.”
With no midweek game for North End, it’s a chance for Liam to settle in before Saturday’s visit of Rotherham United and he hopes to help the side kickstart a winning run in the Championship.
“I’ve not played as many games as I’ve wanted to play so that’s why I came here, to get games and to help this team and I know about most of the teams in the league having done the analysis and stuff so I’m just looking forward to it.
"This league is always tight, a good run of games can put you right up there so we will be looking to do that and hopefully Saturday is our starting point.”
