Club Statement: Bamber Bridge Fixture

10 July 2021

Preston North End are bitterly disappointed that this afternoon’s game against Bamber Bridge has been called off due to the surface being deemed unplayable.

Despite the best efforts of all those at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium to remove standing water from the pitch, following a pitch inspection from the referee, the decision was made the game could not go ahead at that venue.

The fixture will now be played at an alternative venue this afternoon, which unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions and the short notice of the decision, the game therefore must be played behind closed doors.

We share supporters’ frustrations that they are unable to watch the game in person today after such a long time without the opportunity to do so.

We will be providing live updates across the club’s social media channels throughout the afternoon and highlights will be made available on iFollow PNE at the weekend.

Full refunds will be available for all those who purchased a ticket, with details on how to do this announced once we have confirmation from Bamber Bridge. Given we appreciate the financial revenue lost is a big blow for Bamber Bridge, the club will be making a donation in recognition of this.

Once again, we apologise for the inconvenience caused and we look forward to the next opportunity to see supporters back at a first team fixture.
