DJ Named Man Of The Match As Jamaica Progress

21 July 2021

Daniel Johnson put in a man of the match performance for Jamaica on Tuesday evening as the Reggae Boyz progressed into the Gold Cup quarter finals.

The PNE midfielder started for the third game in succession for his country in Group C of the tournament, but Jamaica were beaten by a goal-to-nil against Costa Rica.

Despite that, DJ impressed once again during the 81 minutes he was on the pitch and as a result was named man of the match.

The game was played for just over two minutes before extreme weather conditions led to a two-hour break, before the teams eventually took to the pitch again to play the remainder of the match.

Jamaica had already qualified for the quarter finals prior to Tuesday evening, but the defeat confirmed they would finish second in their group, setting up a tie against the hosts United States, to be played on Sunday evening (2.30am Monday UK time).
