Preston North End can confirm that the first team will play a behind closed doors friendly this weekend, in place of the cancelled Manchester United fixture.
Regrettably, due to the short notice of the confirmation of the fixture, supporters will not be able to attend as the logistics and requirements to host a first team game unfortunately make this impossible at this stage, such as stewarding, policing and other key services, which had been reassigned by the relevant authorities following the cancellation of the Manchester United friendly.
It was important to make sure a fixture was played to ensure the squad were as well prepared as possible ahead of the new season, and this is the only solution at such short notice.
