Forward Sean Maguire is our cover star on The One And Only for our Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool.
While admitting he’s fallen in love with Preston North End since joining the club, Seani still has a soft spot for his boyhood team Liverpool.
As a young lad in Ireland, it’s usually a case of following a local side, as well as one of the big boys in England, which in Seani’s case ended up being the Reds from Merseyside.
So when the Carabao Cup fourth draw was made and it was revealed North End would host Jürgen Klopp’s men, it was unsurprisingly a fixture he could not wait for.
Speaking to The One And Only, Seani said: “When I was a young kid growing up in Ireland, there was probably a few teams that everyone supports, like Liverpool, Manchester United, I suppose Leeds are actually one.
“But I think Liverpool are the most well supported team in Ireland. A lot of my friends and family are Liverpool fans, but I was a massive fan.
“But obviously when I started playing the game professionally, you don’t necessarily fall out of love with supporting, but there’s obviously bigger things going on.
“Especially when you play for a team like PNE for so long, you end up falling in love and supporting them, but if there’s a team in another league that I’d support it would definitely be Liverpool. It’s one I cannot wait for.”
There’s plenty more from the Irishman in his full interview in the programme, while former Liverpool Academy player Joe Rafferty talks about his time with the Reds.
Also in this edition of The One And Only, Jordan Storey answers fan questions, and Paul Huntington, Matthew Olosunde and Ali McCann take part in our other player features.
