Six PNE Players On International Duty

2 September 2021

Six Preston North End players will be involved in international action throughout the next week as the Championship takes its first break of the season.

Daniel Johnson, Sepp van den Berg, Lewis Coulton and new signing Ali McCann will all be looking to play a part for their nation, while scholars Josh Seary and James Pradic are also with their countries.

DJ will be looking to earn his seventh cap for Jamaica when they host Panama in a World Cup qualifier this Sunday.

The game being played at the National Stadium in Kingston will kick-off at 11pm UK time and Johnson will return to Euxton shortly afterwards to prepare for Championship action.

Meanwhile, his team-mate van den Berg is in contention to make his debut for the Netherlands U21s, who face Moldova on Tuesday 7th September in a Euro qualifier at 5.45pm.

PNE’s new midfielder McCann, who joined on deadline day from St Johnstone, is away with Northern Ireland, and he has three fixtures coming up in the next seven days.

They firstly travel to Lithuania on Thursday evening, for a 7.45pm kick-off, before facing Estonia on Sunday (5pm) and then returning home to welcome Switzerland on Wednesday 8th September, with that game getting underway at 7.45pm.

Spending time with Scotland's U19s in the last few days has been first year professional Coulton, who has taken part in a training camp consisting of two games.

Second-year scholar Seary is currently away with the Republic of Ireland U19s on a week-long training camp which included behind-closed-door games, one of which took place on Tuesday, with the next coming up on Friday.

Ireland have UEFA European U19 Championship qualifiers in November so Josh will be hoping to impress to earn a spot in that squad.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Pradic, in the first year of his scholarship, has been called-up to the Wales U17s squad who face Scotland twice this week in Stirling.

The first game is being played on Thursday 2nd September at 7pm, with the second taking place behind closed doors on Sunday 5th September at 11am.
