Nelson Left Frustrated By Draw

22 August 2022

Kitt Nelson was left frustrated after PNE U19s drew 0-0 with Hartlepool United.

In the first game of the Youth Alliance Cup, PNE U19s walked away with a point on a frustrating afternoon.

North End had their chances but ultimately, they couldn’t find the back of the net and struggled to break down a strong Hartlepool defence.

“I thought we played much better in the second half than we did the first,” said Nelson.

“We created the chances to win the game but realistically we need to demand more from ourselves we weren’t consistent enough in our play.

“We played well in patches, but the consistency really let us down which was very frustrating.”

Nelson has already bagged three goals this season, he was frustrated he couldn’t add to that tally today.

“I would have liked to score today,” added Nelson. “I was trying to create goals for the team, but by the final whistle we came out with zero goals so I believe I could have done more on my part.

“I want to really push on from last season and contribute with more goals and assists and help the team however I can.”

Going into next week’s home fixture against Carlisle, Nelson is confident that the team can bounce back.

“We will bounce back next week,” said the young attacker. “We will demand more from each other in training, we will be able to welcome some of the older lads back.

“It’s also up to people like me to step up and take a leadership role to help keep the team firing and on track.”
