No Better Start Says Cross-Adair

7 August 2022

Finlay Cross-Adair felt there was no better way to start the new season as PNE U19 thrashed Oldham Athletic 9-1.

It was the perfect way to start the season for North End as they began their title defence and Cross-Adair was pleased to start the season on a high.

“I don’t think you can start the season better than that,” said the 17-year-old.

“It was a brilliant performance, I thought we did really well as a team all game, especially to bounce back from conceding that early goal. A great start to the season!"

As well as two goals the forward also grabbed an assist, and he is looking to continue his goalscoring form which he started at the end of last season.

“I think I had a good performance. Scoring two goals is always good and to get an assist as well is great.

“I still think I could have been better which might be a little harsh on myself but there is always room to improve.”

It was such an impressive season last time out for PNE U19, winning multiple trophies including the division, and the lifelong PNE fan wants to build on last season and just continue winning.

“After such a strong season last time out its just about trying to build on from that.

“We want to win as many things as we can win, but most importantly we want to improve as a group.

“As for myself I just want to keep getting better, keep improving that is always the aim.”

PNEU19 and Finlay Cross-Adair are back in action next Saturday when they travel away to Stockport County.
