PNE’s Victory At Blackburn Rovers Named Utilita Performance Of The Week

16 December 2022

Preston North End have received the Utilita Performance of the Week award for last Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.

It is the second time PNE have received the award so far this season, having also won it back in October for the 3-2 victory away to Norwich City.

The decision was made by the League Managers Association’s panel, which is made up of LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Rachel Yankey, Les Ferdinand, Clare Tomlinson, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry.

It was a superb display by Ryan Lowe’s side in what was their first Championship outing in four weeks.

Ben Woodburn opened the scoring early on, before Ched Evans doubled PNE’s lead just a couple of minutes into the second half.

The game could have been turned around when Bradley Dack managed to pull one back for the hosts, but another goal from Ched Evans and a Ben Whiteman strike confirmed North End’s 4-1 victory in front of over 4,000 fans in the away end.
