Almost 15 years on from first kicking a ball as a PNE player, Josh Earl is enjoying the best season of his career so far at Deepdale.

It was at the mere age of nine that the Southport-born defender joined the North End Academy, but – as he admits – he never would have dreamed of making such a life for himself with his boyhood club.

His first taste of senior football came in 2017 and four and a half years later, he’s now racked up almost 70 appearances in a white shirt, something he’s equally as proud of each and every time he gets the chance to wear it.

Speaking to The One And Only, Josh said: “Playing for PNE has been my dream since I was nine years old. If you’d have asked me when I was nine to 15, never would I have thought I’d play this many times for the club.

“The amount of players I’ve been with at the Academy that have fallen out of the game and are doing other things now, it makes me feel genuinely really lucky to be in the position I am and I’ll never take that for granted.”

There's much, much more from Josh in the full interview, which you can read in the Huddersfield Town matchday programme.
