PNE Heading To Spain In Pre-Season

1 June 2022

Preston North End are pleased to announce the first team squad will jet off to Spain for six days in July as part of their pre-season preparations.

Ryan Lowe will take his side to Alicante for a pre-season training camp on Friday 8th July before returning home on Thursday 14th July.

The club are hopeful that a friendly fixture will make up part of the camp, with talks currently ongoing with a Spanish club over a potential match.

Speaking about the trip, manager Ryan Lowe said: “It’s exciting when you go abroad. With the weather, you can have three sessions a day: morning, afternoon and night.

“Obviously you can have them at the training ground but it’s a different scenery for the players.

“I’ve been there before; I took my Plymouth Argyle team there in our first year. It’s a place just outside of Alicante which is a fantastic complex, some fantastic pitches, a gym, an indoor pool. It’s got everything there that we need.

“I’m really looking forward to it. Hopefully we can get a game out there as well which would be outstanding if we can because it’s an extra game for the players.

“But they’ll be working really hard out there. Sometimes they can have their own downtime over there, a little bit of sun, beach, they’ll have some down days.

“It’s important that we get away somewhere, get a change of scenery, not just at the training ground all the time, and to a place I’ve been before which is a fantastic place for us to go.”
