Cameron Thanks Fans For ‘Amazing’ Support

14 May 2022

Cameron Archer said he couldn’t thank the Preston North End fans enough for their support during his time at the club.

The 20-year-old forward arrived on loan from Aston Villa in January and it didn’t take long for him to endear himself to the North End faithful, helped by the goal scored on his debut.

Six more followed from that point, including the match-winner in the Lancashire derby against Blackpool, and that strike was voted for as Goal of the Season by the PNE fans.

“I couldn’t thank them enough; I love them,” Cam told iFollow PNE. “Their support’s been amazing.

“Every time they sing my name I get a smile, get a buzz in my heart. I’ve loved every minute and I couldn’t thank them enough.

“Their support’s helped me a lot. It’s helped me become better on the pitch and it gives me that confidence, and I can’t thank them enough.

“Hopefully if I’m back or not, hopefully I can come back and score some more goals.”

It’s been a quick rise in recent times for Cameron, who spent the 2020/21 campaign in the National League with Solihull Moors.

On his return to parent club Villa, he worked his way into contention and scored plenty of goals in cup competition, before getting the greenlight to come on loan to PNE.

“I think it’s been a good loan spell for myself,” Cameron added. “I wanted to come here and score goals and I think that’s what I did.

“[Disappointed] not to get in the Play-Offs, that’s just unfortunate, but I hope they can try and get Play-Offs next season, and if I’m here or not I’ll see.

“They have the right manager, the right players, just hopefully they can get that push next season and from the start of next season just push on harder and get results.”

As mentioned by the England U20 international, it is unclear at this stage where he will be play his football next term as he prepares to return to his parent club in pre-season.

Nonetheless, Cameron couldn’t recommend Deepdale highly enough for those looking for a temporary club.

He said: “Just looking at the place and the people in and around the place, I’ve loved every minute of being here.

“For any other loan people who want to come here, I think this is one of the best places to come.”
